A man asked God to show him how heaven and hell look. God took him to a room in which a group of men sat around a pot of soup. Each man had a spoon tied to his hand but alas, the spoon was too long for one to deliver soup to one’s mouth. Consequently, the men were super thin.
‘That is hell,’ God told the man.
The next room had an exact setup. Unlike in the first room, each man scooped the soup and fed the man across the pot who returned the favour. Consequently, the men in this room were fat and healthy.
‘That is heaven,’ God said.
Need I say where we are as a country? I guess not. This is not a call to mourn but a plea that we put Kenya before you and me in speech and in deeds.
Meanwhile, a prayer for Motherland:
O God of all creation
Bless this our land and nation
Justice be our shield and defender
May we dwell in unity
Peace and liberty
Plenty be found within our borders.
Let one and all arise
With hearts both strong and true
Service be our earnest endeavour
And our homeland of Kenya
Heritage of splendour
Firm may we stand to defend.
Let all with one accord
In common bond united
Build this our nation together
And the glory of Kenya
The fruit of our labour
Fill every heart with thanksgiving.
